Human Rights Policy

Value employees and maintain human rights

To protect employees’ rights and interests and to create a friendly workplace, Acter not only abides by government regulations related to human rights, but also stipulated code of conduct in accordance with Labor Standards Act, Act of Gender Equality in Employment and relevant regulations to protect employees’ legal rights and interests. In addition, Acter is against employment discrimination and does not hire child labor as prescribed in international human rights initiatives and norms. To ensure every employee is respected and treated with dignity and equality, we have also established multiple communication channels and mechanisms therefor.

Acter already stipulated human rights policy, which are applicable to our operations sites. Relevant indicators and measures are also reviewed each year on a regular basis. Relevant policies are described as follows:

Provide a safe and healthy workplace.
  • Take “zero accident” as the management goal; and establish strict “Workplace Health and Safety Rules”.
  • Stipulated “Workplace Sexual Harassment Prevention and Handling Rules” to maintain workplace gender equality, provide employees with a workplace without sexual harassment, and protect victims’ rights and interests.
  • Promote continuous improvement projects.
  • Promote health facilitation activities and employee assistance programs (EAP); and encourage employees to participate the said activities and programs to live a healthy life.
Ensure equal employment opportunity.
  • Abide by local government’s labor laws and regulations. The employment or promotion of any employee shall not be discriminated against on the basis of race, social status, thinking, political party, sex, sexual orientation, age and so on.
Prohibition of child labor
  • The human resources unit shall check candidates’ age strictly and double check new employees’ identity.
Assist employees in maintaining physical and psychological health; and striking a balance between work and life.
  • Provide health related information on an irregular basis; and, for those with abnormal health check results, continuously track their health status and care for them.
  • Promote diverse activities (ex., family day, clubs and so on) to help employees to live a healthy life and to strike a balance between work and life.
  • Implement childcare measures to assist employees in solving childcare related problems, enabling them to work without worrying about their family.

Human rights advocacy and actions

Provide new recruits with information on relevant regulations, by which they can abide accordingly, in pre-employment training.

The content thereof shall include the prohibition of enforced labor and child labor, anti-discrimination, anti-sexual harassment, management of working hours, humane treatment and so on.

Implement workplace bullying prevention campaigns

Assist employees in understanding workplace bullying and knowing how to avoid workplace bullying; and create a friendly workplace with effective communication and open management.

Online sexual harassment prevention course

Enable employees to know about sexual harassment, how to prevent sexual harassment and how the company handles sexual harassment.

A complete series of occupational safety training

With respect to all situations that can occur in workplace, provide different safety training for employees of different types. For example, firefighting training, emergency response training, emergency medical technician training, general safety and health education training, factory safety training, safety training for new supervisors and so on.

Human rights incident reporting channels

  • Acter has set multiple communication channels internally, including employees’ opinions mailbox, employees’ seminar, labor-management meeting, welfare committee meeting, employee satisfaction survey, through which employees can give feedback or report any problem.
  • External personnel can also report any problem or file a complaint according to the information provided on Acter’s official website at “Stakeholders/ Contact Windows of Each Area”.
  • The unit accepting the complaint will transfer the case to the unit in charge of the reported issue; and will, depending on the content of the issue, communicate with the employee.
